HE COULD RUN AND HE COULD HIDE ... BUT WE DIDN'T STOP LOOKING

Four months ago we asked for the public's help in locating Dayshon Trashon Gillespie, 22, of Crescent City. Gillespie had warrants for burglary while armed, grand theft, grand theft with a firearm and violation of probation.

Gillespie fled from deputies on multiple occasions, even swimming a canal to escape an arrest. While Gillespie got away that day, we played the long game knowing we would get a chance to apprehend our suspect.

Yesterday, deputies got their chance and even though Gillespie attempted to run away, he was successfully caught and arrested on the above listed charges. The only casualty was a deputy's pair of pants which ripped during the foot chase.

Gillespie was taken to the Putnam County Jail and held without bond for two counts of violation of probation. His crime spree in the south end of Putnam County has ended.
