The Public Information Office is staffed with one full-time civilian Public Information Officer who answers media inquiries but is supplemented with senior leadership team members.  The PIO works Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the office, but is on-call after hours and on weekends for news-breaking or emergency situations.

Any media outlets wishing to reach the PIO via email, please email media@putnamsheriff.org

The PIO does not handle public records requests from the general public - those should be directed to our Records Unit

The Public Information Office is responsible for sending out news releases, handling all media inquiries, releasing public records in compliance with the Florida Public Records Law, scheduling and conducting news conferences, coordinating agency crisis communications and handles the sheriff's office social media presence.

Public Information Office On-Call Policy

Routine media inquiries and records requests are handled as expeditiously as possible during normal business hours. After hours and on weekends, the PIO is always on-call for emergencies and for significant breaking news events.

After hours, the PIO will generally not have information regarding non-fatal car crashes, routine arrests, crimes not resulting in death or critical injury, or the status of cases that are not considered breaking news.

Written records, including arrest affidavits and event reports, are not made available to the PIO after hours or on weekends.
